Bio

I am a machine learning engineer at Quora, working mainly on recommendation and ranking problems. Previously, I was a Research Scientist at Yahoo! Labs, working in the personalization team and developing machine learning models for search and ranking. I completed my Ph.D. in Computer Science at University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. My undergraduate years were spent at Jadavpur University, West Bengal, India, which is right in the middle of the lovely city of Kolkata.

Interests

I am broadly interested in statistics, machine learning and A.I. applied to solving problems in a rapidly changing world. Since successful application of machine learning techniques involve understanding of data, statistics, algorithms, systems and hardware, I am interested in such interesections of knowledge. Previously, I was a part of the NSF funded project Expeditions in Computing: Understanding Climate Change - A Data Driven Approach.
